A customer-led pottery workshop brought together customers, Interchangers, and family members for a day filled with creativity, laughter, and meaningful connections.
What began as an idea from our customers soon grew into a meaningful group activity, creating cherished moments for everyone involved.
With support from Interchange WA Support Workers Nyanring, Comfort, and Charmaine, the group organised an engaging and inclusive experience where everyone had the opportunity to explore their artistic side.
Customers enthusiastically joined in creating unique pottery pieces while enjoying each other’s company, making the workshop a vibrant and welcoming event for all involved.
Turning Clay into Creative Masterpieces
Throughout the session, customers worked alongside staff members to design and create a variety of colourful and imaginative pottery pieces.
Some of the standout creations included colourful pottery animals, decorative jewellery pieces, personalised letter and nature-themed designs, unique pottery pots adorned with buttons, and a range of imaginative handcrafted artworks. Customers proudly created purple bunnies, green clay creations, a red teddy bear, jewellery in blue and pink tones, and many other unique pieces that reflected their individuality, teamwork, and artistic talents.
More Than Just Art
While the pottery pieces were impressive, it was the atmosphere of the workshop that made the day truly special.
Customers and Interchangers were fully engaged throughout the session, sharing funny stories, enjoying light refreshments, and encouraging one another as they worked. Many customers who were initially hesitant to join soon became actively involved and later shared how much they enjoyed the experience.
Interchangers also observed that the hands-on nature of pottery provided a calming sensory experience for some customers, supporting sensory regulation while promoting focus and relaxation.
The workshop was filled with smiles, laughter, and genuine connection, creating a welcoming environment where everyone felt comfortable participating and expressing themselves.
Family Support and Community Connection
A special highlight of the day was the involvement of family members. One attendee was delighted to see his sister sharing her skills and passion with others. His encouragement and support contributed to the positive atmosphere and strong sense of community throughout the workshop.
The enthusiasm and active participation shown by everyone played a significant role in the event’s success.

Thanks to the leadership of the customers who shared their talents, the support of dedicated Interchange WA Support Workers, and the willingness of everyone to try something new, the event was an outstanding success.
Everyone left with a unique piece of artwork to treasure and, more importantly, lasting memories of a day spent creating, connecting, and having fun together.
