As a Shared Management Advisor, he works alongside customers to explore host arrangements shaped around how and with whom they want to live. His commitment to finding the right connection and respecting each person’s individuality is why he is our latest feature on iThink You Are Awesome.
A Connection That Changed Lives.
Shane has been part of Interchange WA for almost three years. During that time, he has helped grow our Shared Management and Host Arrangement services, connecting customers with hosts who can provide the right balance of support, independence and belonging.
One customer’s story has stayed with him.
“A customer was living in an environment that was negatively impacting her mental wellbeing,” Shane recalls. “We matched her with one of our amazing Interchange WA hosts, and just four months later, her life has transformed.”
Today, the customer lives in a supportive family home where she is happier and more confident. She has started volunteering and is learning to travel independently by bus each week.
For Shane, seeing her develop new skills, build connections and gain greater independence shows what the right living arrangement can make possible.
Why Shane is Awesome?
Finding a suitable host arrangement is about more than bringing two people together. It requires listening carefully, understanding what matters to each customer and finding a connection that feels right for everyone involved.
Shane brings care and thoughtful consideration to every match and every conversation. What motivates him most is knowing that his work has made a meaningful difference.
“One of the most rewarding parts is when a customer or their family thank me for the support we have provided,” he says. “It reminds me why the work matters.”

Of Interchange WA’s values, Individuality resonates most strongly with Shane.
“Each person has the right to choose how and who supports them.” That belief guides the way he approaches his work. Rather than applying the same solution to everyone, Shane takes the time to understand each person’s circumstances, preferences and goals. This helps customers explore living arrangements that reflect who they are and how they want to live. Shane also credits the culture at Interchange WA with helping him thrive in his role.
“Having the support of management and knowing there is always someone available if I need to talk something through makes a real difference,” he says.
Looking Ahead.
Outside work, Shane is a proud husband and father to two girls. Together, they enjoy exploring everything Perth has to offer whether that means spending a day at the beach, discovering somewhere new or packing the camping gear for another family adventure.
Looking ahead, Shane is focused on helping Interchange WA’s Shared Management and Host Arrangement services reach more people. His goal is to help more customers find a supportive home environment where they can build confidence, strengthen their independence and live life on their own terms.
