Social and Community Participation

Social and Community Participation funding helps people with disability get out and about – whether that’s shopping, attending events, joining a local class, or catching up with friends. It’s about building confidence, independence and social connection in everyday life.

Social and Community Participation is funded through your NDIS plan under:

  • Core – Assistance with Social and Community Participation (Support Category 4)
Capacity Building – Increased Social and Community Participation (Support Category 9)

It depends on your individual goals and the type of support you need. Some people use Social and Community Participation funding for a few hours each week, while others may include it as a daily support. Your Support Coordinator or NDIS Navigator can help clarify what’s possible.

Yes. Social and Community Participation can be tailored to suit a wide range of support needs, including mobility, communication or behavioural challenges. The key is ensuring the right support is in place, whether that means specific equipment, experienced workers, or more detailed planning.
