Nurturing homes where real connections are built

A Host Arrangement gives you the chance to live in a welcoming home, supported by someone who’s there to share life with you. A living arrangement that feels like home

Host Arrangements are a flexible way to live with support. You move into a household where the host becomes part of your daily life; helping with routines, encouraging independence, and providing care in a way that feels natural and respectful.

Every arrangement is different. Some people stay long-term, others use it as a stepping stone towards independent living or a regular respite option. You may also receive additional support from rostered Support Workers, depending on your needs.

We will help you find a living situation that feels right, and make sure you are supported to settle in with confidence.

What to expect in a Host Arrangement

At Interchange WA, we work closely with you to understand what a good day looks like, and what kind of environment and people you would feel most comfortable with. Then we support you to find a host home where those things are possible. We will organise regular check-ins to ensure you are comfortable and settled.

Through Host Arrangements, you can expect:

We assess all Hosts and their home set-up to ensure they’re comfortable, safe and suited to your needs. That includes accessibility, location, and overall environment.

Your Host is there to provide everyday support and be part of your life by helping with routines, sharing meals, and being someone you can rely on or even have a regular coffee chat with.

We carefully match you with a Host based on your interests, lifestyle, and support preferences. Hosts come from all walks of life, but all share a commitment to providing a stable and nurturing home. We always look for people who are driven towards making a difference in the lives of the people they support.

Your dedicated Service Advisor stays connected, checking in regularly and making sure your support plan is working for you.

Your needs may change, and your support plan will change with you. We’ll keep adjusting things to make sure your arrangement continues to fit your life.

This arrangement is designed to build your capacity and independence for essential life skills and the confidence of living alone in the future.

Support every step of the way

We are here to make your move simple and supported. From connecting with your Host to settling in comfortably, we will guide you through every stage.

Your Service Advisor will check in regularly, update your support plan as your needs change, and ensure everything runs smoothly.

Your feedback matters to us. It helps shape the best experience for you. We’ll also support you to join local activities, build connections, and enjoy community life, ensuring you are well-connected and feel a sense of belonging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Host Arrangements

A Host Arrangement involves living in a private home with a person or family who provides support and companionship. Group homes typically involve shared living with other people with disability and support staff, rather than a family-style host.

Hosts can be individuals, couples, or families who are willing to welcome someone into their home and provide consistent support. All hosts are screened, trained and matched for compatibility by Interchange WA to ensure that both the hosts and the participant are comfortable.

Yes. While the Host family might be your primary support, you can also have a secondary support plan from rostered supports or respites depending on your needs. The arrangement is flexible and tailored to your NDIS plan.

Absolutely. Host Arrangements can be long-term, short stays including respite, depending on what suits your life, goals and support needs.
