Interchange WA has made the hard decision to exit from Plan Management services. This means our current plan management customers will need to choose a new provider by 29 May 2026.

Why Interchange is making this change

Interchange WA has proudly delivered NDIS plan management services for more than six years. Over this time, the organisation has supported participants to manage their plans, connect with providers and navigate the NDIS with confidence.

However, recent and proposed NDIS reforms have significantly increased the complexity and compliance obligations for plan management providers. These include changes to digital payments, funding rules, quality assurance, and increasing provider oversight. Our decision to exit from Plan Management is about protecting participants and their NDIS funding and ensuring they are well supported through the imminent and major NDIS reforms.

While we are proud of the work our teams have done in Plan Management, these changes are not aligned with our strategic direction. Our focus is on our core services and continuing to deliver high-quality supports through social and community participation, home and living supports and adapting to the reforms that will also affect these services.

We believe our plan management participants will be best supported in the long term by specialist, independent plan management providers whose core business is plan management and who are investing at scale in the systems required for the changing landscape.

We are recommending My Plan Manager to our participants due to their experience as a leading Plan Management provider with the experienced people, technology and systems needed to meet the increased expectations required by the NDIS. Participants have a choice about who provides their services.

What this means for people we support

Interchange WA remains committed to supporting participants’ choice and control. NDIS participants are free to choose any plan management provider and can change providers at any time. Interchange WA will cease providing NDIS Plan Management services from 29 May 2026.

What Participants Need to Do

  • Participants currently using Interchange WA’s plan management service are required to nominate a new plan management provider before 29 May 2026.
  • Without a plan manager in place after this date, participants may experience delays or disruptions to invoice processing and NDIS payments.
  • Interchange WA has established a structured communication plan including letters, emails, and SMS reminders to support people to make an informed decision and access advice if needed.

Continuing Focus on Core NDIS Services

Interchange WA’s decision to exit plan management reflects our primary focus on delivering highquality, personcentred NDIS services while managing potential conflicts of interest under the new NDIS landscape. There will be no changes to other Interchange WA services.

Chief Executive Officer Justin O’Meara Smith said the decision was made in the best interests of participants and the organisation’s longterm sustainability.

“We are proud of the plan management support we’ve provided over many years. These changes allow us to keep our focus where we add the greatest value, which is delivering quality disability services in the homes and communities of the people we support as they live the life they choose.”

Interchange WA will continue to work closely with participants, families, and partners to ensure this transition is managed respectfully, transparently, and with minimal disruption.

The NDIS is changing rapidly, and Interchange WA is committed to adapting responsibly so we can continue to support people, families, and communities in meaningful and sustainable ways.
