Balancing Family, Passion, and Purpose

Meet Clariza, an exceptional Support Worker, an aspiring red belt karate practitioner, and someone who delights in the simple pleasures of life. She joined Diversity South in October 2023, and after the merger with Interchange in December 2024, she has continued to grow and develop in her career.

Recently, Clariza was nominated by her team for our ‘iThink you are Awesome’ award, and we are thrilled to shine a light on her work and share a bit about her personal life.

Working in the disability sector is incredibly fulfilling for Clariza.

It provides the opportunity to support and empower people live their best lives.

Seeing the people she supports happy, safe, and proud of themselves is the most rewarding part of her job. She believes it’s crucial to see beyond the disability and recognise the person within, as everyone has unique strengths and potential.

Clariza enjoys the supportive work environment at Interchange. Respect is the core value she holds most dear because it fosters a positive atmosphere where everyone feels valued. To stay strong and focused, she lives by her motto: ‘You cannot give what you do not have.’ This reminds her to take care of herself so she can be there for others.

It’s essential to fill your own cup before you can pour into others.

In her spare time, Clariza finds joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether she’s curling up with a good book and a warm cup of tea or exploring the outdoors with her family, these moments of relaxation and connection are what she treasures most. She adores her little family. She and her husband have an 8-year-old boy who fills their lives with immense joy. They love spending time together and creating beautiful memories.

Family is the cornerstone of Clariza’s life. They are her everything, providing love, support, and a sense of belonging. Her sister, in particular, has been her rock, always there for her through thick and thin. Her parents and the way they raised her are a constant source of inspiration. Their hard work and the values they instilled in her have shaped who she is today.

Not many people know this about her, but she practices Karate weekly and is currently training to earn her Red belt. It’s a discipline that keeps her grounded and focused.

Thank you, Clariza – We Think You Are Awesome!
