Social Independence

At Interchange, we recognise that social independence is critical to our customers active participation in their community.

We believe that social independence is achieved through supporting our customers to achieve their goals in the community, rather than in facilities hidden away from the world. This gives our customers the opportunity to meet and connect with like-minded members of their community, and to increase their natural supports.

We encourage our customers to become socially independent through the Interchange Social Club, which hosts bi-monthly events and includes activities such as discos, movie days and barbeques.  All activities and events are chosen and managed by Social Club members, which includes Interchange customers who are supported by staff from all Service Centres.
