Samantha is a vibrant, kind-hearted woman whose journey with Interchange WA spans more than 30 years. Over the decades, she has grown in confidence, independence, and connection; supported by a community that understands and celebrates her.

Today, Sam is focused on strengthening her social and interpersonal skills and engaging in community activities that bring her joy. Her team works closely with her to help build friendships with people in the community, encouraging others to learn her basic signs so she can communicate more independently. Whether it is a local outing or a new experience, Sam is gently supported to connect, express herself, and feel empowered.

Sam’s life is full of meaningful routines and cherished moments. She lives in a group home during the week, where she continues to build her independence, and spends weekends with her family, which she absolutely loves. These weekends are filled with farm visits, fishing trips, and quality time that fills the heart.

One of Sam’s proudest weekly highlights is horse riding on Thursdays. It is an activity that brings her joy, confidence, and a sense of achievement. Her connection with animals and the rhythm of riding have become a treasured part of her life.

Recently, Sam experienced something truly special: a trip to the UK for her sister’s wedding. It was an adventure filled with excitement, travel, and celebration. Being part of such an important family moment was deeply meaningful, and she returned with beautiful memories.

Through it all, Interchange WA has been a constant presence in Samantha’s life; supporting her growth, celebrating her achievements, and walking alongside her every step of the way. Her story is one of resilience, love, and the power of community and she continues to inspire everyone around her, and we look forward to our ongoing supports with Samantha to help her learn, grow and achieve her goals in the future.
